What happened
Anthropic announced the integration of Claude chat memory with Cowork’s task memory system, creating one continuous assistant experience. From now on, anything users share in Claude’s chat environment is instantly accessible to Cowork and vice versa. This change is live by default across Free, Pro, and Max consumer plans on web, desktop, and mobile platforms.
Previously, Claude updated its memory at the end of conversations by summarizing key points. With this update, memory content is gathered dynamically during chat, removing delays and allowing the assistant to retain context such as deadlines or preferences without user prompts. Memory records are displayed as topic files users can manage independently.
