What happened
Ankit Mehta, promoter and CEO of ideaForge Technology, pledged 2.8 lakh shares, equal to 0.56% of the company’s equity, to Infina Finance Pvt Ltd on September 28, 2026. This increases the total pledged shares held by Infina to 6.5 lakh, or 1.3% of the company’s total shares. Mehta held 36.87 lakh shares prior to this pledge, which amounts to 7.42% of ideaForge’s share capital.
The shares pledged are valued at approximately ₹20.56 crore based on the recent market price. This move coincides with the company’s shares trading up about 54% year-to-date. The pledge was disclosed in an exchange filing dated October 2, 2026.
Why it matters
ideaForge reported a net loss of ₹2.3 crore in Q1 FY27, reversing a strong profit of ₹61 crore in Q4 FY26. Despite the loss, the company’s operating revenue surged 436% year-on-year to ₹68.6 crore but declined 51% sequentially from ₹141 crore in the preceding quarter. These financial swings indicate ongoing volatility in business performance.
The pledge comes on the back of a major capital raise in July 2026, when ideaForge secured ₹500 crore via a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), allotting nearly 62.9 lakh shares at ₹795 each. Proceeds were designated for working capital needs, debt reduction, and product development. Concurrently, the company is also managing a challenging GST tax demand of ₹109.2 crore for alleged underpayment between 2022 and 2024.
What to watch next
Market participants will monitor whether the share pledge signals any change in Mehta’s financial strategy or if it impacts investor confidence in ideaForge amid financial headwinds. The company’s ability to stabilize profitability and manage the ongoing tax dispute will be critical in maintaining its stock momentum and operational growth.
Further developments around the resolution of the GST penalty and the deployment of QIP proceeds, especially for product development and debt servicing, will be key indicators of ideaForge’s medium-term health. Investors will also watch subsequent quarterly results for signs of sustained revenue growth and improved margins.
